Hi! I am Preeti Ponkiya, a product designer with background in architecture and Human Computer Interaction.
Thanks for stopping by! I’m currently a Product Designer at General Motors Financial, where I'm dedicated to crafting innovative auto insurance experiences for General Motors customers.
Originally from San Jose, CA, I studied Human-Computer Interaction at the Arizona State University. Before my foray into tech, I studied and practiced Architecture, designing skyscrapers to living spaces. My work aims to bridge the gap between the digital and physical worlds, one thoughtful interaction at a time. I'm an end-to-end designer who loves solving challenging problems. Curious by nature, I love connecting with and understanding people. I get excited about leading in-depth brainstorming sessions, conducting user research, and solving UX problems. I believe that design and storytelling are powerful mediums for creating better change.
"In my career I have made a transition into UX/UI Design but visual design and human-centered thinking are not new to me. My background in Architecture, give me a unique perspective which I draw upon in my design practice."
What I care about?
Design Principles
1. Focusing on the People
Identifying the real people who will be using a product or service and not thinking of them as abstract “users”, but as individuals with motivations.
2. Systematic Design Thinking
Always keeping the big picture, the whole journey, in mind. Even while having to focus on the local experience, the entire system is considered.
3. Validating Design Decisions
Verify designs by testing the solution, no matter how much research, ideation or prototyping has been done. The designer is not the user.
